Scope

The Vice President of Research and development leads the Division’s product development functions, providing coaching and mentoring to functional leaders, ensuring world-class engineering skills are developed, and promoting an open and innovative environment where world-class and highly differentiated products and solutions are developed to support the business’ objectives. The function is responsible for the development of new products or expansion of existing product functions, features and configurations, with the input from Product Management and Marketing. The function oversees all phases of product development through the transfer to manufacturing and product launch. Success is measured through sales, market share, and profitability performance. The function requires close interaction with Product Marketing, Manufacturing, Service, Medical Affairs, and QA/RA. It also requires input to the feasibility of product requirements through rapid prototyping, experimental verification, or other engineering means as required to ensure requirements can be met. The function is responsible for translating the product requirements into design requirements, executing the development phases, ensuring that the voice of the customer is built-in through continuous design validation with Marketing, and customers where possible, efficiently transferring the final design to manufacturing and supporting new product launch. Product Engineering interacts with all functional areas.

* 
Lead the Product Engineering teams for Surgical, which includes: NovaSure,MyoSure, THS (tower-free hysteroscopy system) and Aquilex.
* 
Oversee the management, design and development of the different products, including resource planning, budgeting, and delivering products that meet all specifications for production. Assures that the products are on schedule, on budget, and in line with business needs and priorities.
* 
Communicate priority changes as they relate to the product roadmap to the Product Engineering Team.
* 
Ensure that functional departments adhere to the product development process, starting with the translation of Product Management input requirements into Engineering design requirements, which include:
* 
Breakdown of the Product Requirements into a specific system design with elements around which detailed design requirements can be developed
* 
Detailed design requirements for each element of the “Product”
* 
Identification of any product features or performance requirements for which a design path is not readily clear
* 
Identification of Verification and Validation requirements
* 
Detailed Risk Analysis
* 
Resource and budget requirements
* 
Conduct weekly and monthly project reviews providing program status with cross-functional development teams, including direct customer input where possible.
* 
Ensure the department is staffed with the correct technical competencies and properly resourced to meet business goals, while fostering a cultural of innovative and successful product development. Resolves escalated resource conflicts.
* 
Ensure that outbound Product Marketing needs are supported as required (for example, trade show support).
* 
Ensure that all product development processes and activities conform to Hologic’s quality system.
* 
In collaboration with QA/RA and in a pro-active manner, ensure that divisional product development processes and activities meet appropriate domestic and international safety and quality standards.
* 
Required to effectively communicate pertinent information to engineering staff on a wide variety of subjects including goals and objectives, divisional requirements and the current status of the division.
* 
Partner with the Senior VP &amp; GM and peers to define the success criteria for the Engineering group. Ensure that results, not efforts, are consistently recognized and rewarded within the group.

Foster a culture of excellence by providing ongoing leadership, mentoring and coaching to all direct reports. Provide direction and support for their development plans and ensure they do the same for their teams.

Assist business development with early stage product analysis, diligent support and integration as necessary.

Role
The Surgical Sales Specialist (SSS) is primarily responsible for providing field level support to physicians and other clinical professionals who desire to utilize the NovaSure System. This responsibility will require extensive travel and extended stays in a field based territory. The SSS will use this time with these customers to provide product technical support in surgery, in accordance with company policy. They will also in-service surgeons and nurses on the NovaSure technology, build relationships with our customers and become skilled at selling the NovaSure System. 

Target customers will include physicians, nurses, technicians, administrators, office staff, sales personnel and others whose responsibilities may require the need for knowledgeable support of the NovaSure System.

Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities
The SSS will be responsible formeeting required sales quota expectations. This position also requiresextensive travel and extended stays in a field-based territory. The SSS will use this time with customers to provide product technical support in surgery in accordance with company policy. The SSS will also in-service surgeons and nurses on the NovaSure technology, build positive relationships with customers and become skilled at selling the NovaSure System.

Role
Responsible for assisting the Manager in managing the sales administration functions for product lines supported, which includes direct supervisory responsibility of assigned Sales Administrators and responsibilities as outlined below. Provides continuous back-up support to Sales Administrators.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


·    Responsible for supervising the day to day activities of the Sales Administrators, which shall also include the development, implementation and maintenance of team metrics, management of team workload to ensure service levels are being met, and provision of back-up support to the Sales Administrators

Role

Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities


* 
Territory: Arlington, VA
* 
Plan and execute an interactive, strategic, and tactical territory Sales Plan; including: Master Sales plan, Gap Analysis, Marketing and Educational plans
* 
Achieve sales forecast objectives for all products, to include capital equipment and related disposables
* 
Conduct sales calls, build rapport, and make presentations to surgeons, physicians, nursing staff, hospital administration, payers, insurers, health-care providers, and others necessary to achieve territory sales objectives
* 
Create and/or implement custom in-field promotional programs for targeted regional customers and decision maker
* 
Establish and control territory operating budget
* 
Provide surgical procedure and technical product support in surgery as well as ongoing customer service in accordance with company policy
* 
Support the development of in-field training programs for regional centers of excellence and develop a close working relationship with the course director and facility
* 
Plan and conduct educational programs at regional institutions for customer training and provide classroom or in-field training to new hires as needed
* 
Provide feedback on product performance, competition, products, marketing practices and customer satisfaction. Submit special reports regarding operation of the territory, product acceptance, and specifications, or competitive activity

Attend all corporate training, sales meetings, conventions, and in-field development courses
