- Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring EH&S programs at six (6) facilities (Newark, DE, Danbury, CT, Londonderry, NH, Westford & Marlborough (2), MA), in collaboration with the Global EH&S Director in San Diego.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
Responsible for managing all activities performed by EH&S Staff at assigned facilities.
Assists in the development and management of EH&S department goals and budgets.
Assists in the development and implementation of corporate EH&S policies and programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and international rules and regulations.
Champions, manages and implements corporate EH&S and sustainability initiatives at a Regional level, ensuring understanding and partnership with direct stakeholders.
Maintain communication with key stakeholders, liaise with regulatory authorities, monitor EH&S metrics and performance, while providing support and advice to operational teams at all business levels.
Support Emergency Response, Business Continuity and Sustainability initiatives and processes. Plans, coordinates and oversees safety & evacuation drills. Provides and coordinates emergency response both during and after business hours. Follows up to ensure deficiencies are corrected timely.
Oversees the maintenance of environmental health and safety files, manifests, and records. Compiles case studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use as reference material by company personnel.
Administration and management of the company’s workers’ compensation program for US operations.
Advises HR on employee relation's issues concerning accommodation for disabilities and fitness for duty, including follow up and return to work activities for work related injuries.
Plans and executes EH&S compliance audits to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure ongoing compliance with governing regulations; recommends, coordinates, and tracks implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures.
Manages the investigations of unsafe conditions, industrial incidents and accidents, gathering and analysis of accident data, development and distribution of accident investigation reports, and preparation and submission of reports and associated data required by regulatory agencies; develops proactive solutions including Hazard Spotting, and tracks implementation of corrective actions.
Manages the Region’s ergonomic program, conducting and overseeing ergonomic evaluations and follow-up actions.
Provides support and guidance to departments and regional sites on complex EH&S related issues.
Maintains liaison with various government agencies and keeps abreast of new developments and regulations
- Bachelor's degree in an Environmental Health and Safety related field or equivalent experience
Typically requires BA or BS and 8-10 years related experience, preferably in a corporate environment
Current professional certification from recognized EH&S entities preferred.
Advanced knowledge of: Accident investigation techniques & prevention, Biological safety, Chemical safety, Radiation safety, Laser safety, Federal, state and local EH&S regulations (including OSHA & CAL/OSHA), safety procedures, personal protective equipment, hazardous materials, and loss control & prevention theories, principles, practices & techniques.
Skilled in developing and conducting EH&S related training and audit programs, including understanding EH&S Management systems and auditing practices.
Experience with and practical knowledge of sustainability principles and application
Applied knowledge and experience integrating environmental principles, practices, regulatory standards and requirements into business activities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, business partner and advisor attitude
Strong business and technical writing skills
Project management skills, including senior level presentations and interactions

Lifting/pushing/pulling and carrying products weighing up to 45 pounds.
Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration and/or moderate noise levels.
Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals or other materials.
Safety Shoes with Impact and Compression Protection may be required to be worn occasionally.
Potential exposure to blood.
