The Marketing Manager, Upstream role will be instrumental in driving decisions on new product development and Business Development opportunities. S/he is responsible for driving new product concepts through development and partnering with regional marketing to ensure successful market launch. S/he will provide opportunity sizing and forecasts, pricing models, competitive considerations and clear customer requirements. This role interfaces closely with internal and external stakeholders and is a great opportunity to shape our fast-growing medical aesthetics division.

New Product Development

  • Marketing core team member on cross-functional product development teams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to meet milestones and ensure timely product launches with a high level of quality

  • Conduct regional and global market research to quantify the size of the addressable market

  • Collect voice of customer associated with identifying product needs and features

  • Collaborate with product development (R&D) to establish unmet needs, translate to design specifications and assist in validation activities

  • Understand competitive landscape, integrate business needs into the product and ensure desired claims are in marketing plan

  • Work with finance and global regions to develop financial forecast models

  • Develop comprehensive marketing plans including value proposition, messaging, key claims, customer segmentation and targeting, pricing strategy and evidence-based strategy

  • Closely communicate with regional partners throughout NPD (new product development) process to capture primary market needs and smoothly transition management of products in preparation for launch

  • Partner with regional marketing to develop product launch strategy, required marketing materials and global forecasts for new products

  • Promote a culture of partnership with cross-functional teams while maintaining a shared level of urgency.

Strategy, Innovation & Market Management

  • Develop business cases for new market and concept ideas that include strategic fit, market sizing & financial modeling, high level unmet clinical needs definition, competitive landscape, commercial implications, and go or no-go recommendation

  • Assist with business development commercial assessments including input into the forecasts and deal models

  • Build physician network to obtain VOC for projects and business opportunities

  • Build strong relationships with downstream marketing, KOLs, medical advisory board members and relevant societies

  • Gain alignment with internal and external customers for key decisions

  • Design and execute (internally or with third party) qualitative and/or quantitative market research with customers and other key stakeholders

  • Advise and assist with market and customer segmentation and product end-of-life planning

  • Act as a change agent within the organization and bring best practices to the cross-functional teams

Bachelor’s degree in business or a scientific discipline is required

Master’s/MBA preferred


  • 5+ years of upstream marketing and new product development experience required

  • Demonstrated experience in medical or aesthetics medical device markets (minimum 5 years)

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills required

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and being able to work within short timelines

  • Ability to collaborate and work with internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated success working as an integral cross-functional team member

  • Ability to develop clinical expertise in medical aesthetics field – deep understanding of customer needs and R&D opportunities

  • Experience with FDA & CE mark medical device product development cycle

Additional Details:

  • Position requires 25% travel (including international)
