Role

Hologic is an innovative medical technology company primarily focused on improving women's health and well-being through early detection and treatment. As Sr. Design Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the design and development of new products from concept to launch and improving existing products to meet the needs of our customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize mechanical design solutions tomeets all specifications, customer requirements, and manufacturability

  • Develop robust working designs, computer solid models, design layouts and drawings using Solid Works

  • Creates mechanical designs and detail drawings per company standards and procedures

  • Manage CAD packages and engineering change orders

  • Coordinate/lead design reviews with cross-functional team members

  • Evaluate feasibility of design concepts and provide cost estimates

  • Coordinate procurement of purchased parts and custom fabricated parts to evaluate design feasibility

  • Exercise good judgment within common design practices to execute on deliverables

  • Perform robust tolerance analysis studies to ensure product reliability

  • CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred

  • Knowledge of plastic and machine part design

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Hands-on problem solving skills with a proven ability to work well in a team environment

  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues and manage multiple design projects

  • Understanding of GD&T

  • Knowledgeable in QSR Design Controls

  • Design experience with high volume, injection molded plastic components

  • Experience in mechanism and capital equipment design

  • Experience using GD&T and performing tolerance analyses

  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods

  • Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering

  • Three to five years prior experience in medical device R&D
