Field Applications Specialist - MOLECULAR


The Field Application Specialist (FAS) will be involved in and responsible for on-site installation, customer training, education and troubleshooting Hologic’s Molecular products including consumables, instrumentation and applications.

The role will support customers in all aspects of product implementation, working alongside sales representatives, coordinating customer adaptation and implementation of technology.

Duties & Responsibilities others may be assigned

  • Installation of equipment

  • Education and training on product line

  • Work with sales representatives for standard menu training and implementation.

  • Work with sales representatives to assist with selling process in laboratories

  • Provide troubleshooting assistance and be available for all tech support needs via telephone, fax and computer (e-mail and Internet), and in person.

  • Work independently to coordinate training, troubleshooting and maintenance support to customers while being responsive to customer

  • Support and develop strong customer relationships by acting as a liaison between the customer and various departments with the Company.

  • Abide by training and complaint handling SOPs to ensure consistency amongst all new and existing accounts

  • Maintain customer data base with up to date information on site visits and customer contact information

  • Maintain clear and complete records of procedures to comply with all elements of the Company Quality System relevant to the position.

  • Represent the Company at conferences, shows, workshops and seminars locally, regionally or nationally, as necessary

  • Conduct in house trainings for co-workers to assist in furthering knowledge of Hologic molecular product line

  • Assist with developing presentation materials for training or customer materials.

  • Provide support to product/clinical studies

  • Perform other related duties as assigned ad-hoc by management

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:-

  • Working knowledge of molecular biology

  • Up-to-date proven experience with automation equipment/instrumentation

  • previous experience working in a molecular diagnostics/clinical laboratory setting

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences (molecular biology preferred) or equivalent

  • Successful experience and strong commitment to customer service deliverable activities

  • Ability and willingness to travel in the field each day in accordance with day-to-date duties

  • Technical competency with the ability to stay current in technical knowledge to troubleshoot technical questions from customers and provide information back to the customer in a helpful, courteous, positive and professional manner

  • Proven planning and execution skills

  • Proven proficiency in computer literacy i.e. Internet etc and MS Office – Outlook, Excel Word, PowerPoint etc

  • Excellent communications and listening skills, both verbal and written

  • Strong proven teaching/training skills to transfer knowledge and expertise to others

  • Effective presentation skills using multimedia

  • Independent self-starter with positive attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully perform in an environment of multiple changing priorities

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and with other team members in a cooperative manner.

  • Fluency in English – verbal and written

  • Valid driving licence
